Programme

Six authors, four languages, three literary genres - that is Lëtzebuerger Literatur(en). 
Since 2010, the Kulturfabrik, in collaboration with the CNL, has been presenting the special diversity of literary production made in Luxembourg at the beginning of the year. At the reading evening in the Escher Kulturfabrik, half a dozen published writers present their latest works and provide an insight into the country's rich literary landscape. 

This year, on Tuesday 4 February, Anne-Marie Reuter, Carla Lucarelli, Christiane Kremer, Ian De Toffoli, Jhemp Hoscheit and Luc François will be reading.

We have invited the artist Eric Foy to be in charge of the evening's musicality.

Born in Luxembourg, Anne-Marie Reuter studied in London and Warwick (PhD English & Comparative Literature). In 2017, she co-founded Black Fountain Press and published a collection of short stories and flash fiction, On the Edge. She has translated, from French into English, poetry by Lambert Schlechter, one day I will write a poem, and, from English into Luxembourgish, the play Disko Dementia by Larisa Faber. In 2021 and 2024, her stories Blue and Red were published by Redfoxpress, Ireland, with illustrations by the South-Korean artist Antic-Ham. Her first novel, M for Amnesia, was released in 2024.

Carla Lucarelli was born in Luxembourg in 1968. She has published two volumes of poetry, Aquatiques (2012), Dekagonon (2016), two novels, Carapaces. (2013) and La Disparition de Wanda B. (2017), as well as an autobiographical story, Enfance, Instantanés (2020). With éditions Les Venterniers she published Terrains vagues in 2013, a collection of 22 short stories. She has also written plays and contributed various anthologies published as part of the Walter Bicherdeeg or published by the CNL, as well as for literary supplements and magazines. (Kulturissimo/Galerie /forum). In 2022, Phi-Verlag published her collection of short stories Chantiers du désir. salztage + zurück (2024) is her first volume of poetry in German. The poems are accompanied by illustrations by Florence Hoffmann.

Christiane Kremer is an author, journalist, translator and founder of the publishing house Kremart Edition. She has already published several children's books as well as short stories and a novel. Her children's book So mol, Lobo! (2018) was honoured with the Lëtzebuerger Buchpräis in the children's book category

Ian De Toffoli (1981) is a writer, playwright and academic from Luxembourg. He is an associate artist of the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg. His plays have received a number of awards and grants, including the Primeurs Festival Audience Award for Léa ou la théorie des systèmes complexes, ARTCENA's creation grant for Un héritage(2022) and the Science and Theatre Festival Encouragement Award from Theater Heilbronn for AppHuman (2021). In 2022, Terres arides was selected to represent Luxembourg at the Festival OFF d'Avignon and, in 2023, the monologue Tiamat was chosen by the Comédie-Française's readings office. Ian De Toffoli has been writer-in-residence at the Théâtre des Quartiers d'Ivry, the Maison des Auteurs des Francophonies in Limoges, the CEAD in Montreal and the LCB in Berlin. His latest play, Léa ou la théorie des systèmes complexes, is currently on tour and has been published as a story by Actes Sud.

Jhem Hoscheit was born in Esch in 1951 and also lives there. He writes in Luxembourgish and has published 33 works to date (including novels, children's books and cabaret). He is also the winner of the Servais Prize for Perl or Pica 1999 and the Mérite culturel 2020 from the city of Esch. Jhem Hoscheit has been honoured with five book prizes and national literary competitions. His 7th novel and latest publication is: Ouninumm (Editions Guy Binsfeld, 2024) in which we deal with the question: How does Connie deal with her dark secret?  

Luc François began his debut Der Dämon der Monde at the age of 13 and other books soon followed, mostly in the fantasy and sci-fi genres. Luc often accompanies his novels with a concept album by his band Mindpatrol, as was the case with the dystopian stories Vulture City and Ikaria This did not bring him much success, according to him, so he channelled his experiences as an unsuccessful author into Wasserstand. To his surprise, he was nominated for the Luxembourg Book Prize with it. In 2024, he published a short story collection called Hirngespinste und Silberstreife.

Eric G. Foy, a Brussels-based artist of Mauritian origin, blends folk, indie and electronica to create immersive soundscapes. Through guitar loops and meticulous production, he explores sincere emotions and soothing atmospheres, offering a sonic sanctuary imbued with nostalgia and reflection.
