Delicately updating a repertoire of oriental pop-folk songs from the 1960s and 1970s, Madeleine & Salomon fly the flag of poetry and freedom. Translated into English and French, the lyrics of these songs, born on the shores of the Mediterranean lose none of their acuity, none of the strength or the dreams that gave them form. Their minimalist approach, interweaving voice and piano, captures the meaning of these songs, rooted in the tension of an era torn between tradition and the desire for emancipation. There infinity blends into the harmony of melody. Madeleine & Salomon (the middle names of Clotilde Rullaud and Alexandre Saada) earnestly express the pulse of an endlessly hopeful world.
